Drosera lunata — the Winter Sundew 🌱
 
This rare carnivorous plant is native to Australia, where it survives hot summers by hiding underground as a tiny tuber.
 
In winter, it wakes up and sprouts sticky leaves to catch insects.
By summer, it “sleeps” again, waiting for the next season.
 
The exciting news? After years of cultivation, this Australian sundew got a good chance to grow well even without special cooling.

I’m really lucky — I managed to get my hands on some extra Drosera lunata tubers to share around.
 
As some of you have already seen from my new wine-cooler setup, I’ve been exploring more highland and winter growers.

While trading plant material recently, I got a couple of these rare tubers in exchange.

After many generations, it now has a high chance to grow in Singapore weather, even without cooling.
 
Back in 2017, I grew it myself — from just 3 tubers. They sprouted fast, grew quickly, and honestly, it was so exciting to watch.
 
But the results aren’t always guaranteed — which makes it extremely satisfying and gives a great sense of achievement to own a rare species of sundew.
